Allison Hayes
Allison Hayes, is the Rock Girl. She is also an expert speaker, a master teacher, and an award-winning psychic. This is what her About Me reads. This is probably the most promotional of psychic websites I’ve seen in a long time. Yes, it definitely works for her persona; I think that one of hardest things for professional psychics is to not be a wilting flower or a reed bending in the wind. Not all of us want to wear tunics and Birkenstocks. And the fact that she is literally an expert in the use of sacred stones makes sense. I think for those who want a no nonsense, badassed psychic, they’ll find on in the Rock Girl. Apparently, Cyndi Lauper is a fan.
Hayes writes books, teaches classes, and does radio shows for Om Times. However, her psychic readings are perhaps the most interesting thing, in that she always uses sacred rocks. Not every psychic has a specific affinity to a nature like that; she can do her readings on the phone and in person using her rocks. Of course, these will set you back a lot -- $300 for the first hour – but that’s the price of celebrity.
I am definitely ambivalent about her practice. I don’t begrudge her success, but I do wonder how much is hype. She’s got a legal page, so she can afford a decent lawyer, and she’s got celebrity endorsement, and she has her own endorsement. But what is real and what is puffery?
PsychicDude Likes
- Works with rocks and sacred stones
- No nonsense, no hippie stuff
- In a way, makes psychic work more accessible to the public with her persona
PsychicDude Dislikes
- On the expensive side.
- More self-promotion than substance on her website. A psychic isn’t a hairdresser. You need to know if you have a connection with a psychic; someone else’s endorsement just isn’t enough.
