You’ve probably heard of Maria Duval, one of the biggest frauds in the history of all things psychic. But there are frauds everywhere, big and small, that ruin the lives of those who trust them. One of the most common scams is for the psychic to tell their client that someone has cursed them, and that the psychic can remove the curse.

And these scams have a few things in common:

1. It may seem silly to you right now, but when you’re at a vulnerable moment and trusting someone to look beyond the veil (one they can’t see through themselves), if they seem legit at first and then lead you to believe that the problems they managed to see are the result of curse, you’ll believe them. Many do. Some psychics may even purportedly know who put the curse on their client. No matter what, it costs more money to get the curs removed, above what the psychic normally charges for the reading.

2. The client is not around when the curse is removed. This is important. The psychic takes the money and then does a ritual by themselves, or meditates, or prays, but always – always – without the client present. Why? Because the psychic is doing nothing but laughing and spending the money, because there is no curse to lift.

3. The psychic fails to explain the nature of the curse. In reality, most psychics can’t lift or resolve a curse with mere psychic power. A curse by witchcraft takes witchcraft to remove it. A curse by sacrifice requires a return sacrifice. And always, for any curse to be lifted, the cursed person has to be involved and active in lifting the curse. If meditation or prayer could lift the curse, then why can’t the client do it themselves, for free?

4. Relatively speaking, what ails the client is not so bad as to make them think they were cursed before the psychic told them. A curse is the result of another person’s will intervening with the order of the universe to create harm to a person specific to that person. A curse usually manifests as tragedy, either dramatic or subtle, but nonetheless noticeable. A loving relationship ends for seemingly no reason. An otherwise healthy adult succumbs to a mysterious illness with no diagnosis and no cure. Losing possessions to a freak accident. Depression, uncertainty, hard times: this is why people visit psychics, and these things happen to everyone. They’re not curses.

If you’re cursed, you know that you’re cursed. So, if a psychic ever tells you that you’re cursed, question them, especially if this is news to you. Yes, it seems awful to be told that you’re cursed. However, you have to consent or allow it to happen in some way, and you have to have the wheels in motion in order for it to work.

For example, say someone curses two people to become ill and die. Person A is young, healthy, goes to the doctor, and has a good life. Person B smokes, drinks, takes drugs, doesn’t eat well, is miserable, and doesn’t have a good life. Person B is more likely to succumb to the curse because signs point to them already not having as much will to live, and they’re already set their illness in motion.

Now, say that Person A hears that they’re cursed, They absolutely believe that that’s it. Game over. They’re going to suffer and die. On the other hand, Person B is ever the cynic and doesn’t give the curse a second thought. Guess who is more likely to succumb? Person A. Sure, they may both feel the affects of the curse, but only Person A is going to attribute sorrows to the curse, so only Person A will give it power.
